DEGRA-NOVON
Bio-degradable Masterbatch
What is DEGRA-NOVON
DEGRA-NOVON is a biodegradable masterbatch made from traditional polymers mixed with unsaturated fatty acids, such as oleic and linoleic acids extracted from plants like olive oil and corn. It serves as an oxidation-promoting additive designed for polyethylene (PE), polypropylene (PP), and polystyrene (PS). By adding 1% to 20% of DEGRA-NOVON, plastic materials can accelerate decomposition under UV light, oxygen, and heat, breaking down into micro-particles. These particles are further degraded by natural microorganisms, like wood-decay fungi, into CO₂ and water, without affecting the material’s physical properties or processing conditions.

High Bio-content
With a bio-carbon content of 95% as certified by ASTM D 6866, BIO-NOVON leads in reducing reliance on fossil-based plastics, enhancing sustainability in plastic production.
Carbon Neutral
BIO-NOVON achieves carbon neutrality by balancing the carbon emitted during its lifecycle with the carbon absorbed during the growth of its plant-based sources, supporting global efforts against climate change.
Versatility in Application
Suitable for mixing with conventional plastics like PP and PE, BIO-NOVON can be used in various products, maintaining the desired physical properties while being environmentally friendly.
Reduction of Carbon Footprint
BIO-NOVON significantly lowers the carbon footprint in plastic production by utilizing bio-based materials which absorb CO2 during their growth. This contributes to reducing greenhouse gas emissions and supports environmental sustainability efforts.
